Results saving as TeX file not PDF

Hi

I have tried to save a patient this morning. Her name is Zoë. With the little dots above the e. This is not a usual keyboard character/letter. Could this be triggering the weird save format to TeX rather than PDF? When I try to open her TeX file and use eg word to try and view it I just get lines and lines of text that makes no sense.

Please help ASAP - I need to get her report out today.

Hello Bridgitte

The software does have restrictions on the characters that it can place in the report, but you should be able to print the report with the name as you spelled it with the dots over the e. Please try the following and try to print the report again.
1. If you are still using Version 1.4.1, please uninstall it and download and install Version 1.4.2 of the software.
2. The issue is likely with how Windows/Miktex handles the file name, so please modify the JSON filename by replacing the ë character with a regular e. E.g. If the JSON file name is Zoë_MiddleName_LastName_Timestamp.json, change the filename to Zoe_MiddleName_LastName_Timestamp.json
This way, you are only changing the file name and not the child's name inside the data file. Once you make this change and print, the PDF output reports should have the name correctly printed.

I have un-installed the older version and re-installed the new version. Then I changed the child's name to Zoe without the dots above her name. The file loaded just fine. But when I went to print it said this:

Thank you for posting a detailed error log! I will look at the details and see if there is anything specific that is causing the error on your end. I created a test file with the first name as Zoë and last name Smith, and the program froze (no output) when I tried to print the default file i.e. Zoë_x_Smith_20220906_1441.json.

I then changed the filename to Zoe_x_Smith_20220906_1441.json and was able to generate the output reports without any error. The PDF files also have name printed correctly as Patient Name: Ms. Zoë Smith. Please download the attached test file (download and unzip to extract the JSON file) and try to run it, and let me know if you are able to generate the PDF reports. If not, then the error is caused by something else and I will investigate it further.

Just a quick note here - I noticed that your data files are located in a folder that is synchronized with OneDrive.
...\OneDrive - The Hearing Clinic\APD\LALSA APD\cliniclogo.jpg

There is a known issue with the software that throws an error while printing the PDF reports when the data file is located in a OneDrive synchronized folder. OneDrive usually synchronizes with most of your library folders, e.g. Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Videos, etc. Please try to set your data folder to another location that is outside OneDrive sync and try to print the reports. I know this is a major inconvenience (much like the MikTex installation) and I am sorry for the trouble. I am aware of this issue but have not been able to fix it in this version, but will definitely fix it in the next version (Version 2).
